3 year old hit by two seven year olds

Hi, wondering if anyone can help regarding what is the best/most effective/most appropriate/legal way to deal with a situation.

I was at a softplay with DS, 3, when he was picked on by two seven year olds (and there younger sibling). DS was hit in the stomach, left screaming in pain.

The seven year olds denied it before being grassed up by another older child. I spoke to the child asking if he had hit my son. Mother came over saying I shouldn't address their child.

I'm now left thinking of all the things I wish I had said
Any ideas gratefully received

God how disturbing. You must have felt so angry. Can you bring it up with the centre itself? Obviously the seven year olds are young children too (however nasty) but some kind of letter re basic standards of behaviour from the soft play co. to the mother/s may be appropriate (to be handed to them on their next visit?). Is DS okay now?

Nothing much you can do other than watch your child like a hawk in the future, so that you actually see what happens and can intervene before it is a problem.

your poor little boy :(

i would probably have made a bit of a scene, and involved staff from the soft play.

You hit him
No we didn't
Yes they did
You're lying
No I'm not
Yes you are...
You need the evidence of an adult, doesn't sound as if the mother would have been any use if she was instantly defensive.
Soft play staff could issue a general warning about playing nicely, but their impotence is one of the reasons soft play is such a nightmare. I'm surprised that they were in with the littlies though, don't most soft play separate the older and younger children? Or is it really a melee?
