15 wk old waking EVERY HOUR after 0200

Has any wise parent out there managed this situation successfully? DD2 is bottle-fed what I think is enough during the day and has a supposed last feed at 1030pm but wakes WITHOUT FAIL at 0220. HV said she couldn't be hungry and to ignore it and not feed, i.e let her cry/resettle. I have tried not feeding for a week and settled her back to sleep with water and cuddle but I haven't let her cry as she's young and her 17month old brother sleeps next door. She wakes up an hour later each time. I'm getting too tired now and can't think of a solution.
Could it be hunger? Everything I read suggests someone of her weight (6kg) should be able to sleep at least 5 hours without waking.
The other side to the conundrum is this: when she woke at 0220 I used to feed her but she still woke at 0400 and 0500; now that can't be hunger.

Of course it could be hunger. Your HV sounds bonkers to me, I would ignore her. Your baby isn't even 4 months old, I can't believe she told you to give her water in the night. She might be having a growth spurt!

Babies wake for lots of different reasons and typically they are in a light sleep in th e early morning hours. If they can't settlet themselves back to sleep then that can be a reason for waking hourly.

Thanks, Narmada. Do you know how I should train her how to settle herself back? She probably has a few bad habits by now: dummy, sleeping in a carrycot in the day etc but she does go down awake and never makes a fuss at bedtime in her cot with sleeping bag.

I don't know about formula feeding but I think it could be hunger or the dreaded 4 months sleep regression. Just feed her and repeat to yourself: 'this too shall pass'.
It will, honest. :)

Ignore the HV and feed her. IME the stuff about when they 'can' sleep through the night is total bunk.

Thanks for the tips. Spoke with another HV who recommended feeding at 0200 but not at 0400 and trying to settle her another way. Let's give it a go tonight and hope 17month old doesn't wake up irreversibly.
