7.5 month old shaking head

In the last few days my Ds has started to violently shake his head from side to side when tired or hungry. My initial thought was earache but nothing else seems wrong with him -no temperature and still cheerful.

I just put him down for a nap and although he wanted the dummy I couldn't get it in his mouth until I held his head still. He then kept shaking his head til the dummy flew out and then cried to have it back again. It's just taken nearly 2 hours for him to fall asleep. Similar head shaking when it tried to feed him on Sunday and Monday.

He us generally very very active with lots of leg kicking and hands bashing but he seems to be replacing this with head shaking

Any thought? Do I need to worry?

Sorry when I tried to feed him, not it

Is it something he's learnt recently and he's doing it because he can?

I can remember being worried when each of mine started this. Ditto when they found their ears and held them constantly (thought they had earache)

Posted too soon!

If he's otherwise happy and you're not concerned about anything else, I wouldn't worry :)

Thanks -it may be just that but it can't be nice for him to violently shake his head for 2 hours ...

My DD2 used to do something similar when she was around 9 months, she would sit at the bottom of the sofa and bash her head backwards onto it and any attempt to stop her made her do it even more! I can assure you she is completely normal now, at 5!
