4.4 DS started sucking/licking his fingers

in the last week or so DS 4.4 has started licking and quickly sucking each of his fingers (like you might if you have eaten some crisps). He broke his arm a few weeks ago and i wondered if it was a result of that and having a cast on (hasn't bothered him otherwise). Its not something i have come accross before and i wondered if anyone else has. i guess its best to ignore?

My ds2 does this when his ears are bad (glue ear) he's 4.4 yrs too and has sore patch by mouth and around lower lip, he will also suck his fingers or kind of just hang them in his mouth, it stops when a cold clears and after last grommets - he's having grommets next week so it will stop again.

I don't know why but its one of the 'warning' signs we look for... I'm not sure if that helps or not!
