Reaction after MMR

Just looking for a bit of reassurance really. DD (14mo) had her MMR two days ago and so far has had a bit of a temperature, diarrohea, is off her food, general grizzling and whinging (out of character) and seems extra sleepy. Basically she's not herself at all and I feel so guilty for doing this to her. She's also developed a strange little grunting sound that she's never done before. Anyone else had any weird reactions that they don't tell you about?

Thanks

My DD had all of the symptoms yours has apart from the grunting, but I think that might just be a groan type thing saying how miserable she feels.

DD was better after a couple of days, and these symptoms are very common side effects of the mmr.

Try not to worry too much. If you thinks she gets a lot worse then ring nhs direct or take her to a walk in, but she will probably be fine.

Thank you! She seems to be teething as well so probably not the best combination. The grunting thing is almost as if she's straining but she's certainly not constipated - it's the opposite problem. I'm sure you're right, she's just letting me know how miserable she is. :(

agree with oreocrumbs but how about a little calpol?

BabydollsMum · 12/04/2012 21:51

Oh yes she's fully Calpolled (sp?) up.

Don't feel guilty for doing it to her! If she caught any of the illnesses she has just been immunised against, she would be feeling a heck of a lot worse!

Yes we had all those symptoms apart from the grunting. Lasted about a week. Similarly our DD was teething at the same time so she was pretty miserable.
Just keep the calpol/nurofen on standby along with lots of cuddles and games.

Thanks, she seems a little better now but still very grumpy about going down for naps and at bedtime - extra clingy.

OK so she's had the rash - thankfully that only lasted a day, snotty nose, sleepless nights, extra grizzly and clingy.

Now she's developed a little tic in her left eye! God knows if this is something to do with the MMR but it's also on the side her new tooth's coming through. Anyone had any experience of this? I think I'm going to have to take her to the docs if it doesn't stop soon.

Definitely take her to the doc's.
