Crawling

My DS is 10 mo and not crawling. He has lots of time on the floor and can move himself round and sideways to get things, but not forwards. He ends up going backwards instead. All our baby friends are crawling/walking and I'm worries he's behind. It's only been the last couple of weeks that he's started sitting properly but I have to prop him initially, and then he's fine without support. Do I need to worry? He bears weight in his legs and can hold onto the furniture on his own but doesn't pull up.

Probably nothing to worry about at all but I'd give your HV a call and ask her to see him, just to put your mind at rest Smile.

My DD crawled just before 10mo and only started standing at 11mo. She is 15mo now and still not walking, just cruising.

I think it is a good sign that your DS can bear weight and most likely he will just do everything in his own time, but speak to HV if u are worried.

My DD crawled forward at 13 months, took her first steps at 16 months and started walking properly at 18 months. She's now 2.1 and you would never know she had a slow start.

There are advantages to having a lazy baby, I was able to sit in the park having coffee with friends and enjoy my coffee rather than chasing after a crawling/walking toddler Grin
