Problems with getting to sleep - 2 1/2 year old

Anyone been through/going through this and have any ideas?!

My ds is 2 1/2 and has always gone to sleep by himself (but didn't sleep through until 18 months!) and we have had a set bedtime routine, with adjustments such as cleaning teeth, since 12 weeks.

However, the past week he has refused to go to his bed and is instead pointing to our room. He screams and screams and has huge temper tantrums. We have tried leaving him in his cot but now takes to throwing himself out and leaving the room. Last night he fell asleep eventually, after 21/2 hours, on the floor of his room! Any ideas.

Sorry for typos but quite tired as he also woke at 4 30 am.

I had horrendous probñems with my son, two years of little sleep and was literally crying over my ipad as i relayed the sorry tale on here. That was three weeks ago. Since then, I have moved a single mattress into his room and i stay with him til he falls asleep then go to bed on the floor when i want to, lol, its do comfy and he doesnt even wake up. I know it might sound drastic but no sleep is awful, i feel and look years younger now....also, maybe he is too big for the cot?
