Is this behaviour normal for a nearly five year old boy?

DC1 is nearly five. He is quite large big for his age, over 20 kg. He is usually full of beans, and can be quite boisterous. I seem to spend quite a lot of time reminding him not to be rough. He's not vicious though, IYSWIM. School aren't worried, but I have no idea whether within his school group he is the one of the rougher ones.

How much of this is normal for age? Is this just a testosterone surge? In hindsight I have worried about or tried to amend otherwise normal for age behaviour previously. If it's a phase they grow out of I am happy to continue with reminding, and chastising (with consequences if he doesn't stop when told.

TIA?

Normal
Will take ages to sort
Be prepared! (Not sure how!)

Very normal. And rather lovely when kept in proper bounds as you are quite clearly doing brilliantly.:) I miss my boisterous 5 year old boys. They've turned into sluggish teens before my very eyes!

Unlikely to be testosterone surge. Sounds more like normal behaviour that is simply more noticable because he is big for his age.

I've a "strapping", tall DS too, mine's just turned 5.

I have an older DD, they are so different!

DS is rougher and much cheekier. He often reminds me of a huge puppy.

Good luck to both of us!

Thankyou, I am reassured. Not sure what happened to the grammar earlier, TIA was not meant to be a question.
