Strange behaviour at sleep times - 1 year old

DD has been under the weather last few days with a raised temp. It was last high at about 11am today and although a bit grumpy she has been fine for the rest of the day. The problem starts when she lays down to go to sleep. For 3 attempts at naps today and at bedtime now she falls asleep for a minute or two (well her eyes are closed) but then suddenly she jumps out of her skin, sits bolt upright and crys. What could be causing this? I took her to the docs today - he checked her ears and chest and said they were fine.

could you try cuddling her until she goes into a deeper sleep just to get past the jolting stage and give her a bit of reassurance that you're there?

Thank you. I just let her sleep with me last night. She woke twice but the boob calmed her down. She has been doing it again this morning though, poor baby. :o(

Teething? Ds is getting some teeth at the moment and the last week has been waking just when you think he MUST be asleep by now. They can get a temperature with teething and its supposed to be worse at night as they aren't distracted by goings on.
