Hi,im new to this mumsnet,could someone please tell me about any financial help you may get for having a child with ADHD and how long the process is for getting a diagnosis?

Depending on their needs you could get disability living allowance. This is awarded if the child has significantly greater needs than other children of the same age. It is not awarded based on a diagnosis but on the additional needs of the child. Citizen's advice would be a good place to start. It took us about 6 months to get a diagnosis.

I have to say though, that money is not the first thing most people ask about when their child has SN. Generally, people want to know how to get their child the most appropriate support and get their child's needs met.

If you haven't even started a developmental assessment, then I can't see why you'd be wanting to know about 'financial help' - it's jumping the gun, slightly, don't you think? Hmm
