Overactive bladder in 8-year old boy

Has anyone had to resort to oxybutynin? I've just been reading about the hideous side effects and am wondering whether wetting the bed and risking very mildly damp pants during the day is actually preferable if all other options have been tried and failed.

Hi There,

My DS (aged 8), is on oxybutynin for overactive bladder. We have experienced no side effects. Can thoroughly recommend using the medication, combined with bladder training exercises (ie. drinking lots of water and trying to hold for as long as possible). Do the exercises at non-critical times only e.g. when you are at home.

Also try avoiding all fruit juices / fizzy. This significantly helps with my DS.

Hope this helps, Jenny.
