My Dn is 7. He is a very precocious child (in the positivie sense)and as a result can be very demanding. about 18 months ago there was a discussion and consultation as to whether he ahd ADHD or not, no firm diagnosis was made Ritalin was tried but DB and SIL stopped it as he ahd side effects. He has done well over lat few moths with strict behaviour regime but now is constantly tapping his hands, scratching himself and pulling his hair and obviously distressed. MY DB and SIL need help any suggestions?

Melbob, My ds is on medication not ritalin but similar. We have a final diagnosis now, what I will say ASKED FOR A SECOND OPINION!!! It sounds like that they are not really sure and some children don't get properly diagnoised until they are around 8 yrs.

It sounds like there are other problems and a further asesment is required is it a compulsive ritual that he ahs to do and how is he at school? larsxx

Thanks lars for replying sorry but I have been away.

It isn't compulsive more like he has to keep moving.

Melbob, a further assessment appears needed, neeed an expert in ADHD really to be able to diagnoise clearly. larsxx

Melbob, Contact the ADHD society there may be able to recommend a consultant in this field, maybe able to be referred by your GP on the NHS. Larsxx

Dentro - thank you for the ad! But OP said adhd not autism, also where is the evidence for these figures you've produced ? Is this part of some nationally recognised research ? 25% due to toxic substances including heating milk bottles in the microwave ? So the way to go is Isotherapy......what utter drivel.
