Umbilical cord worries

Hi all

My son is 8 days old and up til today I've felt his stump was drying up very well, but this morning when I changed his nappy there was some blood on it where his cord was, and it seems as if it doesn't look as dried up as it has done. Just not sure if I should be concerned or not?!

has the nappy pushed the stump off his tummy a bit? If it was tucked in the nappy then it could be damp from the wee - one of my baby's stump got a bit smelly and soggy when it got stuck in the nappy so I folded the nappy down and left the nappy off for as long as possible to let it dry out again.
