I'm not sure whether to be a little concerned or not because my DS is nearly 11months and isn't weight-bearing, pulling-up, crawling, cruising or anything. He's been slithering on his tummy for a few weeks but doesn't use his legs (just pulls along with his arms).
Normally I wouldn't worry about development 'milestones' but he had the cord round his neck at birth and needed the crash team to resuscitate him. Since then no-one's mentioned this or done any checks and I've started to have a worry that the lack of oxygen caused some damage we've yet to uncover. If we try and get him to weight-bear he only puts his tiptoes to the floor (which I seem to remember can be a sign of a cerebral palsy-type gait).
Anyone else experienced this or got any ideas/advice?

Don't have any experience of this but am bumping for you.

My advice is always ask if you're worried. Make an appointment and tell them your fears about the cord etc and the cerebral palsy gait and hopefully they'll be able to put your mind at rest or refer you.

Good luck x

If you are concerned you should ask your HV. It would be perfectly reasonable to ask for a proper check if a baby isnt weight bearing at 11mths.

I am not saying there is a problem so please dont worry.
But personally I would insist on a check up.

My DS2 had odd muscle tone and wouldnt weight bear at 9mths ish. I was concerned about CP because of his history. The physio was also worried.

As it happened it seemed to resolve its self (with a bit of physio) and he turned out not to have CP. His gross motor development is now perfectly normal.

Ask HV or CP for a ref to the Child Development Team.

DS1 pulling up 8 months, cruising 9 months, walking 12
DS2 8 months, 9 months and just 10 months
DGD (dd of ds2) 8 months, 8.5 months and 1 day past 10 months!

Ds1 pull up and cruising I can't remember but walking was 7.5 months running by 8 months

Ds2 and ds3 walk at 9.5 months

Dd pulled up and cruised at 5 months first steps 6 months confidently walking and stopped crawling at 7.5 months

Dd crawled at eight months commando style. I forget about when she cruised but walked at fourteen months. Ds crawled at nine didn't walk properly til 18 months. This thread seems to have a disproportionate number of early movers! Have two friends whose dc walked at nine and ten months, but that was very early. Mine were later, but no one had any concerns and around a year for walking, and somewhere around eight months for crawling seems pretty standard.
