just turned 7 and just turned horrendous!!!!

Ds1 has just turned 7 and has suddenly become rude and defiant. i thought at first he was just pushing some new boundaries at home , but his teacher spoke to me on fri to say he has been losing concentration for the last couple of weeks and spends too much time staring out of the window.

We have a reward chart at home, but it seems to be losing impact. at the moment I have arranged to see the teacher next week and have said i will withdraw wii privaliges at the weekend if he doesnt improve at school, but does anyone else have other ideas.

I want my sweet natured boy back!!

I can sympathise as I have a 7 yr old ds who has been really trying for a while now. He is rude, obnoxious at times and very up and down with his behaviour. We also find the reward chart isn't working and so we are going more for taking away a favourite toy or a privilege for better impact.

He can also be so sweet natured, thoughtful and caring when he wants and I would love for someone to tell me it's just a phase!!

Is your ds worried about anything at school - new friendship groups etc? We found that this has been at the root of some of our ds's moods recently..

Thank you for replying- your ds sounds exactly the same. Ds1's best friend has recently left school, so this maybe the cause. i work 4 days a week, so find it hard to do friends for tea, maybe I will arrange a few friends over at easter, that may help- good advice, than you
