Please help - I am at the end of my tether with my 2 and a bit year old. She is a very strong willed child who wants to be very independent and knows her ow n mind - all of this is fine!

What I want some help with is she is really well behaved when I am not around and will play really nicely with other children etc - as soon as I arrive it is like a switch flicks and she becomes appalling, pulling hair, biting, fighting and the list goes on. I put her on the naughty step, reprimand her, remove her from the situation etc but nothing seems to work! I don't know what to do anymore.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, having similar issues with my DD although not so much fighting etc, more just tantruming over the slightest thing, mainly when she doesn't get her own way. Hoping that someone will be along with some useful advice soon! Grin

HA! JUST WAIT TILL SHE TURNS THREE! then you'll REALLY see what strong willed means. Enjoy this easy phase.

consistency is the key. My 4 yr old is an angel now., very polite, accurate, controlled, a darling. It wasn't always like this though - we had a tough time after we moved house at 18mths until 3.5. People can' t believe it now when I tell them what it was like!! We used 3 warnings then naughty step and ensured she stopped crying and said an apologetic sorry and the occasional smacked hand/bottom (i understand some people don't like this). Now if shes done something wrong, or gets a little wound up, she takes herself there. Good luck, its not easy, but if you persist, it'll come right. The stubborn streak must come from somewhere I used to remind myself : D
