Taking off Pooey Nappy

DD1 is nearly 2, dd2 3 weeks old. Since a few weeks pre dd2 and post her arrival dd1 has been getting up at 5.30am - 6.30am every morning. This is obviously difficult for me with dd2 and also as she dropped her midday nap at 19 months leaves her not having enough sleep.

We tried a rabbit in bed/up clock which worked for a little bit then she ignored it. Over the last week we tried a travel stair gate on her door. Twice now I have heard her shouting for me at 6.30am and gone to get her and found her with her nappy off. This am poo was everywhere - I threw out her bedsheets it was that grim.

Is this due to the gate? How can I stop this happening??!!! Anyone had similar issues?

She is just acting out with the arrival of her sister. Lots of positive attention and it will pass. It is tough going from 1 to 2.

We used to go into ds and find he had got the poo out of his nappy and smeared it all over the headboard of his bed. Joy. He stopped eventually.
