At what age did your baby's eye colour change to the colour it stayed?

My daughter's got to their final colour when she was about 18 months old.

Ooh DD's have definitely got lighter but I can't say exactly when they did. Maybe 8 months. She used to have the most vivid dark blue eyes and everyone and anyone commented. We used to get about ten comments a day! Everywhere we went. To me, they're still beautiful and pure blue, but now they're lighter they're much more 'normal' and we don't get the comments anymore.

Dd2's eyes changed over about 9 months from blue to brown. Dd1 has blue eyes anyway, so not much change.

DD's changed when she was 3. They were blue up until then, they're now mostly green in a blue grey kind of way.

DD was born with black/dark brown eyes that lightened out to hazel. Quite unusual as she is pure Caucasian and most babies have blue eyes when born....she wishes she had blue now though Wink

Wow, expected much earlier than some of your posts. DS and DD1changed within a few days but DD2 still keeps changing. Thanks for all your answers x

I have twins, both born with dark blue eyes.

DS's eyes went dark brown within a few weeks. DD's eyes went light blue within a few weeks, but then started to get darker and a bit hazel coloured at about 8/9 months. She's 16 months now, and her eyes are light brown but I think they're still getting darker.

Both babies are very light blonde hair with pale skin, and DH and I are blonde hair and blue eyes. I am very surprised to have got brown eyed babies!

Still going at 18 months. They started off deep blue and now are a sort of hazelly colour in the middle and a pale blue at the edge. I don't know how to answer when people ask what colour my son's eyes are Confused

My DD1's eyes changed within two weeks. They were very dark when she was born (i presume blue but it was hard to tell) and by the time she was 2 weeks old they were the strong clear sky blue that they still are now. I remember my HV commenting on it and saying it was quite early for them to have changed and I asked her if they would continue to change and she said she that although eye colour can often take 6 months or more to develop once they had changed as decisively as DD1's had they were unlikely to change further (they didn't). DD2 is now 5 and I swear her eye colour still changes depending on her mood (either green or a sort of hazel) up until 9 months ish I had no idea whether they were going to be blue, green or hazel but by then we were able to rule out blue. We knew by 5 or 6 months that DS's eyes would be brown.

Yes like others it was around 18 months

DD was born with blue eyes and very dark hair and is now a green eyed blonde!

Chrononaut · 18/03/2012 19:18

mine changed to green when i was about 3 or 4 i think? Im expecting ds' to do the same but i could be wrong.

screamingeels · 18/03/2012 20:39

DD is 4.5 and they are still changing brown to bronze to hazel. i was late teens/ early 20s when my eye colour settled to green with brown spots, my dad has same unusual colour/pattern, i'm betting dd will too.

Twinklebum · 18/03/2012 20:58

My ds took about a year to change from blue to light brown but I do have professional pics of him at 8 months where some of the pics look blue and others look brown, it very strange!

Doitnicelyplease · 20/03/2012 00:19

DD's were very dark blue when she was born, but by 2/3 months you could tell they were turning dark brown and they are still dark brown at 3.6 years. My husband and I both have hazel eyes, I think mine were brown when I was a child though and got more green in them later.

No one in either family has blue eyes so no real surprises here.
