Toddler Slapping Face

My son is 15 months old, and has begun to slap faces (thankfully only mine so far) when he gets upset. I explain that this isn't nice behavior but he doesn't understand reasoning yet. I try to say no firmly, but he does continue to do it whenever he gets upset about things. Any ideas please? Thank you!

A small shriek (but not a comedy one) and turn away. This worked when my son started nipping my face. I also put him down straight away if I was holding him.

Say "No! No hitting!" sharply, and put him straight down before turning your attention away from him. Every single time.

My dd was a slapper - but not for very long.

When I say slapper, I meant....well, you know....
