Why does DS sleep totally through the night when DH is away?!

REally really odd!

16m old DS without fail will sleep totally through the night if DH is away but if he is here he wakes maybe twice and requires drink/dummy/white noise to get back to sleep.

Why on earth might this be?!!!

I just wondered if he made noise/messed with the heating etc when there or did you do something differently when he was away?

My DS used to only reliably sleep through on the (rare!) nights when I went out and DH put him to bed! It used to drive me mad!! I guess he used to like seeing me in the middle of the night but wasn't so fussed about having a snuggle with his dad...

He's fine now though (2.1)

Tell him to move out :) maybe you'll get more sleep then x

I have the opposite problem although at 7 years old my DS just wakes up really early whenever my DH is away.

On the other hand I don't sleep well at all and generally only manage 5hrs when he's away Sad

How often is he away compared to at home?

It may be if he is away more than he is at home that your DS is unsettled when he returns??

He is away until Easter at the moment but prior to that, once or twice a week.

I'm getting great night sleeps at the mo! Wink

Do you share a room with DS? If so, perhaps your DH's movements are disturbing your boy's sleep?
