My DS plays make believe all the time

from the minute he gets up to the time he goes to bed and the whole family is roped into acting out the roles we are allocated.

Should we continue to encourage this? Does he need to go to drama classes? Or should we discourage him from living in a fantasy world? He's five, bless him.

Let him continue. he will have such a great bunch of memories of you and others playing with him and will be thankful. My dd sometimes still plays imaginary games even though she is 11 and my son whos now 17 was the same.My dd is very dramatic and my son is writing a fantasy/sci-fi book which so far is amazing, because (i like to believe) we let them have that fantasy world without stifiling their creativity and allowing reality and society to do so either

She is 16 now and as far as I know veryrarely,if ever, pretends to be any sort of writing implement!

in our house we are all cats!! im meow meow....dh is fat cat...ds2 17 is rufus ...ds1 20 is barney and his g/f is petal and they have 8 kittens!!!!even the poor neighbours are involved lol, wouldnt mind but we have 4 cats as it is, oh and dd whos game it is (5) is called boss cat, but must admit we have to remind her she is not a cat when at school lol x

Pah- cats! Lightweights! Dd was once a basket of washing and I had to peg her on the line......

i think it souns normal and its very good for his development, enjoy it he will grow up quickly :)

ds4 makes us all be thundercats at the moment i get to be cheetarah, he is liono, his sister is wilykit, his cousin is wilykat and his brothers are panthro and whatever the others are called, daddy gets to be evil mummra the baddy!

oha nd with regards to being animals, the only time i have intervened is when mine like to be cats/dogs and one is the owner or police man if they are a police dog and they tried to use a skipping rope as a lead, complete with tying it round neck!! NOT a good game!
