Hi, my DD sleeps really well once asleep, I hear her resettling over the monitor. BUT when it's time to sleep she gets really angry and cries madly. We have a routine and I put her down for nap between an hour and a half to two hours after waking when she starts to get cranky.

This used to work but for the last two weeks she has become much more interested in the world and wants to stay up. She refuses all attempts to calm her before bed. Even tried bfing before a nap and she refuses the boob because she doesn't want to be relaxed as that leads to sleep.

Any ideas?? Today I gave in and brought her out in the pram. Want her to nap at home though. :)

My ds was like this. He used to fight and fight and fight sleeep during the day and, like you, I used to time our laong walks to coincide with nap time. Very often nap time would be an exhausting round of pick up-put down and lots of screaming until he went. THere were occasional periods where he would fall asleep himself, but not many. He's 2.5 now and still won't nap.

Dd is 4 months old and I'm trying to strart putting her down for naps in her cot. So far she seems to settle if I put her in and put ehr rainforest mobile on. But I'm really in uncharted territory with this one!

4 month sleep regression - google it Smile it's a developmental thing, so should be over quickly

Um, she doesn't really wake up much once asleep though. Sounds like as Atronaut79 describes more than sleep regression. She does have the odd bad night due to a cold/ not enough food but on the whole she is doing a good 7-7 at night with a 10.30 dream feed. It is getting her into sleep mode in the first place I can't seem to do.

For example, this morning I took her to her room a little before nap time when she showed the early sleep signs. I cuddled her and then put her in her rocker to chill out for a bit. I picked her up after 15 mins, she was happy, put her in her cot and by the time I'd done up the sleeping bag she was griping. 20 mins later I was walking around the room with a howling baby in my arms having tried all sorts of things to calm her.

But again, once asleep she was fine. Afternoon nap coming up in an hour... any suggestions before 4 that I could have a go at???
