Depends on the child.
Dd2 was about 17 months. Ds would have had no interest and would not have done it on request ever. Dd1 knew her alphabet before she knew her colours Confused she was about 2.6yo.

DS1 knew loads of colours by 18months.
DS2 was 3 before he knew any colours, he wasn't interested, couldn't separate them at all. Then he watched Disney cars, I started calling the colours after the cars Lightning Red, Chick Hick Green etc and he knew them all within a week.
DS3 I can't remember, before his second birthday some time.

thanks! only asking because dd had her 12 month review with the hv today and the hv made a comment about dd not being able to do it would rather chew the blocks
