Who knows, they're all different! My dd rolled from front to back at about 4 months, but from her back to her front not until 7 months (she HATED being on her tummy when she was small!)

DS was rolling both ways at 12 weeks (which is unusual). It's more normal to be somewhere between 4 and 6 months iirc.

Well he's found his thumb tonight so that is a bit of a late development! I think he's going to be lazy like his Dad Hmm

12 weeks!! Wow! I don't think DS opened his eyes until he was about 14 weeks lol

DS used to have a thumb. He's forgotten about it. He has a willy now you see. Grin He found it last week and nappy changes have become bloody difficult.

I actually sort of wish he wasn't so mobile. He has no bloody idea about what he's doing and crawls over to the hearth, licks the soot off it, head butts the woodburner and rolls in the ash. It would be much easier to put him down and find his 27 week old self where I left him, not grubbing about in the corner with a half chewed spider and a telephone cable wrapped in his pudgy little fists.

my ds never rolled over, well he did once and screamed the house down and never done it again :)

My dd2 can roll but doesn't! She rolled over somewhere around five months (but hazy-will have to make it up for baby bookWink) but just isn't interested eight months now and starting to pull up on things.

Bumpsadaisie · 09/03/2012 13:14

DD did it once at this age roughly and never did it again.

DS is 4 now and shows no signs of rolling. He HATES tummy time, so why would he, really.

Bumpsadaisie · 09/03/2012 13:14

DS is 4 months, not 4!

PeelingmyselfofftheCeiling · 09/03/2012 13:31

My Ds has just learnt to roll, unfortunately he still gets one arm stuck so screams to be rescued about every 20 minutes.... Am not thrilled with this development, especially at 2am.

nickelhasababy · 09/03/2012 13:32

it used to be closer to 4months when babies slept on their fronts. now it's more likely to be closer to 6 months.

DD hates tummy time, too, so she's very rarely on her tummy.

LST · 09/03/2012 17:02

Ahh I see. My DS really enjoys tummy time. He rolled from his side onto his back earlier... I spose that half count!

Thank you for replying Smile

My 5 month old has rolled from his back to his front for about four weeks. He can roll the other way, but chooses not to. He hated tummy time, so I didn't push it and he just did it on his own. At night I put him to sleep on his back and after about 15 mins he rolls over onto his front and continues to sleep until the next morning. At first I tried to roll him back, with no success, so I gave up and left him. I suppose all babies will develop when they are good and ready and we can only be patient. :)
