Can anyone recommend any playgroups/nurseries in wandsworth? I'm finding it tricky to find anything that will take under 2yr olds...

There is one opening in April on Magdalen Rd - Magdalen Nursery.

I know what you mean...we struggled to find something for DS when I went back to work when he was 9 mos. We ended up using Kids Unlimited (but I would not recommend it, we withdrew him pretty sharpish).

I am now a SAHM so can't recommend any, but the only one round here which takes under 2s is Teddies in Southfields (it's a v short walk to Earlsfield mainline).

Are you saying you can't find any that take under 2s, or that all the places you've found are full? There are absolutely tonnes of nurseries (this is nappy valley after all), although I know that many do have waiting lists.

I can think of 4 or 5 in easy walking distance of where I live for example.

Where exactly are you?

I would recommend the nursery we use, and I have friends with children in various others, so depending on where you are I could PM you with info.

Wandsworth's Family Information Service is a good source of info by the way.

A million years ago I went to Square One in Putney Grin

Where abouts in Wandsworth?

Blundells (Sheepcote Road, not far from the Latchmere) is very good, but youngest they take is 18 months. The Bridge nursery is very good too, and I think starts from a baby room and goes right through to pre-school.

thank you, I'm near battersea park rd....i'm struggling to find any that take under 18mths, I'm hoping to go back to work 2/3 mornings a week and would love to find somewhere that would take from 6-9mths. I've heard that Blundells is good, also Bridge lane although i can't remember what their fees are!
Magdalen Nursery sounds interesting.... will be good when they have more info available!

I'm really surprised you say you can't find any that take so young. All the ones round where I am (Wandsworth end of Battersea) take kids from 6 months or younger. My DS started at 8 months and was not the youngest.

Bridge Lane has a waiting list of more than 12 months - people put their kids names down before birth. I've heard nothing but praise for it. You've mentioned Blundells and Asquith's (also near the Latchmere) also have a baby room. Sorry, other than that I don't know anything about the nurseries down in your direction.

One option would be to find somewhere on the way to work or nearer to where you'll be during the day. Or if you can do a drop off by car before work there are several other options in Wandsworth direction... Riverside Nursery at Battersea Reach, Busy Bees at Smugglers Wharf, St Peter's Children's Centre off York Road, Kids Unlimited on Battersea Rise, Baby Room on Latchmere Road etc etc. A quick google around your area has also brought up the Clapham Day Nursery on Wandsworth Road and the Patmore Children's Centre.

Purple Dragon on Battersea Park Road seem to take children from 4 months but their website is completely unfathomable (trying to be achingly trendy) so I'm really not sure.

Good luck!

Might also be worth having a look at NappyValleyNet here
