does DC2 (15 months) sound on track developmentally?
quick background to my question: DC1 is disabled (severely autistic), so I don't have any experience of what is 'normal'. don't want to talk to HV/GP as wa let badly down with DC1.

so DC2 is doing the following:

  • walking
  • pointing & communication his needs really well
  • says about 8 words ( is this too little?)
  • underrstand simple instructions such as " get a nappy", " give daddy a kiss", " clap your hands" etc
  • self feeds and can eat with spoon and fork ( though very messy)
  • only starting to pretend play ( such as feeding a dolly)
  • will answer siimple yes/no questions (eg. do you want an apple. or do you want more?) with "yes" and "no"
  • can point to a couple of body parts (but wont point to pictures in books)?
  • awful tantrums if he does not get his way but otherwise a happy little chap.

sounds ok for 15 months? sorry, I really lost my feel for the normal since autism took over my life. so any responses would be much appriciated!

That all sounds well within 'normal' range to me.

I have 3 dcs (dd1 5, dd2 4 and ds 22 months) - ds is delayed in all areas, and has only started to do a couple of those things (can point to his nose, will clap if asked, oh and has tantrums!)

Sounds lovely for 15 months.

StarlightDicKenzie · 06/03/2012 21:21

Sounds absolutely normal. Possibly advanced for some.

Notinmykitchen · 06/03/2012 21:22

Sounds completely normal to me too!

All sounds completely normal to me, and I agree some sounds slightly advanced.
