Our ds seems to feel he's not fitting in in school - he gets wound up easily, is very sensitive to others around him, is conscious of his standing (describing himself as 'Charlie Brown, I don't think anyone really likes me' )

He is very bright and coping with all the work, but perceives himself as not being clever, being forgetful etc.

He's had a couple of meltdowns when getting ready for school, and recently I saw the head, she said don't get into a battle with him if he's refusing to go, but try and state a time soon after the bell and come in then, until we've spoken to a psychologist.
(They're arranging a meeting with the school/ed psychologist)

...anyone else been through anything similar?
Would you have any advice please? I don't want him missing too many lessons and falling behind cos then that'll be something else for him/us to be anxious about
Thanks

Yes I've been through similar. Perhaps it's the school environment itself that he can't cope with. An OT who is experienced in assessing sensory processing would be able to help with that. Lots of posters in a similar situation on the SN children board as well.
