My son turned 2 last novemeber and hasnt received a letter for a 2 year check yet from the doctors yet my sister who went 2 in Feb has and they are at the same doctors.

Should I ring up and get one sorted for him?

Ring if you want one, or if you have concerns. If you're not worried about his development then it would seem to be a waste of time IMO.

afaik this only happens if there are concerns i.e. a visit to a&e since last visit with hv

SparkySparrow · 01/03/2012 15:36

I rang them a month after ds's 2nd birthday because I hadn't heard anything. They said that they don't do them until they are at least 2.6. I wouldn't worry too much. They will get round to you eventually.

our area doesnt do them at all and doesnt see them until their pre-school jabs

He hasn't seen a health visitor since he was 8 month old and had a a&e visit the day after he turned 2. I just wondered as my sister has one and they are at the same doctors

ours doesnt do 8 month checks either so ds wasnt seen from his 8 week check until his pre-school jabs (apart from routine jabs). I did end up self referring him for speech therapy around the age of 2½/3 years which is probably something that would have been picked up if they bothered doing the 2 year check!!

Scaredycat3000 · 01/03/2012 16:45

The 2 year check changed to the 2 1/2 year check. They saw my DS1 at 21 months, said see you at the 2 year check and then I heard nothing. When I had DS2 (DS1 was 2 1/2) his red book now says 2 1/2 year check. So it's changed. Somewhere in early 2011. But why they saw your sister's LO and not yours I have no idea, my HV's booked in my friends LO, 2 months younger, but never my son Confused

Think it depends where you are. Dd was 2 on Monday, got. Letter Tuesday asking me to call for an appointment, nd he has her check next week.

TheSinglePringle · 01/03/2012 18:04

Only just noticed it says yeat and not year in title! Stupid phone!

My sister has one but my son.doesn't that's what I don't understand. Hers is for next week and she went 2 in February.

He is my only child so I don't know if it is something I should have done

phone the hv and ask or go along to one of the baby groups and find out

Seona1973 · 01/03/2012 18:09

p.s. our checks/jabs, etc are done by the hv and not the doctor
