Cup with a spout or a proper cup?

Looking for help/advice please on milk drinking with DD who's 2.

She has a cup of milk when she wakes up and one before her bath and bed (about 200ml). She still drinks it out of a cup with a spout which she loves and usually drinks it in about 5 or 10 mins. However I've been thinking that we should be trying to move her to a proper cup - so we've tried that the last couple of mornings - she won't drink it properly and wants me to hold it for her and then will only take a few sips at a time so takes about an hour to drink it. She refused to even try her milk in that cup this evening so had her cup with a spout.

Which is worse for her teeth the spouted cup which only takes minutes to drink or a proper cup which she can't chew on but takes ages to drink?

Thanks

Hi I would imagine the cup with spout tbh would be a little worse on the teeth but not that bad in reality but why not give a cup in the day when shes not going to be easily upset or very thirsty then wean her on to a cup in morning and eventually full stop. She will only get frustrated if it's her first or last drink Smile

Thnks for the reply - she drinks from a cup fine for the rest of the day but only has water in it (or occasionally squash/watered down juice) so i know she can drink from a proper cup - she just doesn't want to andI get another "NO MUMMY!" in outraged tones.

Smile I'd leave it at that then for now there's no real rush is there she is obviously not ready maybe it's a settling habit kind of thing in the evening and I don't think I would change that just yet but maybe you can negotiate on the morning drink?

DD won't drink any milk this morning - now starting to worry if i should go back to the other cup (I tend to worry a lot about how much she eats and drinks as she's very petite only 21lb at 2!)

Won't drink milk this morning from a big girl cup? Give her the other if so and if not give it a little later. She will be fine Hun x

Cheers for that - i tend to panic about her pfb! She's now eating porridge and drinking juice from a normal cup
