Can anyone tell me why 5.5 month old DD

is hysterically crying at some people she doesn't know when they speak to her?

She is usually charming and has a smile for all but over the last week she has done it to a checkout operator in Tesco and a mum at baby clinic. It is definitely these people causing her to cry as she is soothed, looks at them again and starts sobbing again. She then cranes her neck to look at them and cries harder!

Any ideas?

Well they go through stages of being wary of strangers. My ds2 did especially.. It'll probably pass eventually

Marvellous - The people making her cry are quite upset by it. I thought maybe she was just rude like her dad

Mine does this too. At the cleaner in particular (mind you I don't much like her shuttering either!).

Shuttering?? Whittering!

DS is 6mo and does the same. He does not like people with glasses or people in hats. I bet there's something which is upsetting her and you just haven't found out what it is.
