DOes anyone know any sites where i can retrieve this information? Would anyone know what the average weight is for a five year old DD? My daughter is a little chubby, certainly not overweight and i would be interested what she should be weighing in at.

My dd's Child Record book has weight and height charts up to about age 12, at the very back. HTH

Just looked back of the RedBook: median girl 5yo weight is 18.5 kg, which = 41.6 lb or just a few ounces below 3 stone. How tall is she, Geraldine1969?

The 90% weight range (90% of 5yo girls will be in this range) is about 14.8 kg to 23 kg (that's 33.3 to 52 lb, or 2stone+5lb to 3stone+10lb).

I have also been wondering about this recently.
My dd is 3 and a half and seems solidly built.
She weighs aprox 2 stone 7.
I know this sounds awful but Iam paranoid about her getting big.
My sister is 20 stone and has always been a big girl. She was 10 pond born and a chubby child.
Her weight got really out of hand in her teens.
It breaks my heart because my sis has always been v unhappy and depressed about this.
It terrifies me that my dd might take after her aunt.
NOT for cosmetic reasons, but I would hate her to suffer the same way.
Through our childhood me and sis always ate the same, it really puzzles me.
BTW Iam 8 stone and probably eat more than sis now.

charlize - how tall is your dd? Just being nosy because my ds is the same age and weight but looks quite thin. He is 3ft 4in.

I know i have a Son, so weight and height charts are different. But i wouldn't worry too much about what they are 'suppost' to be. As long as they dont eat too much junk, there is nothing wrong with a little puppy fat.
My ds2 is 19 months, 3 foot tall and 2 stone 7 last time he was weighed.!!

I don't know if your daughter is chubby or not - but she doesn't have to be like your sister. Yes there is a genetic predisposition to weight gain (I am susceptible to weight gain myself)- but its not inevitable that you have to be overweight. The routine advice of avoiding high fat and sugary foods and taking regular exercise have protective effects.

As a mum there is a lot you can do to lead by example (and I am sure that you probably are).

Don't let on your concerns about weight gain to your daughter though - you don't want her getting obsessed with this....

Anyway, I am sure that she is just fine!
