DD has been saying it from turning 2, maybe earlier. She is 3y9m and still asks why - but now accompanied by some more qdetailed question she wants the answer too. Not sure if they ever stop!

Thanks for getting back so quick My ds is 2.6 and has just begun the why thing, I thought it was a bit late but I gues she's on target. I've had alot of concerns about her due to her low birth weight and other quirks in her behaviour and can't help myself checking that her development is age appropriate.

ds started about the same time, and hes now 5 and dont think it'll ever stop!
the best bit is when you answer the why question and they ask why to your answer ending in an hour long converation full of whys!

I was just wondering this myself. DS (2.1) hasnt yet, but does ask 'whats that noise?, 'what does X do?' and lots of other questions, but just doesnt seem to have grasped 'why?' yet, not that Im complaining .

I was also wondering about when they start to understand the I, me, you scenario and stop refering to themselves by saying their name. Anyone?

DD started when she was about 3. Now 4 she still does it mainly to wind us up I'm sure... unfortunately replies like 'because I said so' are no longer accepted ;)

So when does it end?... NEVER LOL

when they're teenies/teenagers, according to my friend, it just changes to 'why not?!'
