6 months, ready for highchair?

My dd2 is 6.5 months old and her Tripp Trapp highchair has just arrived. The manufactorer does point out that the baby set can be used from ca. 6 months onwards, when the baby can sit on the floor unaided. So dd is 6 months but cannot sit unaided yet. The past couple of weeks I've fed her in her bumbo (which I put in the middle of the table so it's rather inconcenient as everyhting seems to be in her reach) or on my lap, which means I get covered in food, too. Therefore I'm quite desperate for her to use the highchair.
What would you do, wait til she can sit unaided or use the chair and maybe use towels to support her if need be?

Give her a try and see how she is? if she does not seem comfy or able to sit in it properly then take her out again but it is worth a try she may be fine?
My 6 months ds is the same, can't sit properly unaided (ie he can but falls over after about 1 min) but i did try him in highchair and he was okay as there is some support, and obviously u wouldn't leave them unattended in it if you are not sure about their sitting unaided capabilities so if they do start to look a bit unhappy with sitting there, then you are right there to take them out again - so I would just go for it, and if it doesnt work out then back to bumbo and try again in another week or so

Put her in it - she'll be fine. She might slump a little bit at first but practice makes perfect. She'll soon be sitting up. Both mine used their tripptrapps from 5m on.

DS didn't sit up unaided until 9m. He was crawling everywhere and could sit up, but actually refused to do it until he could do it himself from crawling. He was very happy in his highchair though, straight back, etc. I put him in it (Ikea Antilop) at about 23 weeks.

Just give it a try, 6.5m sounds old enough. She will let you know if she is unhappy.

Thanks everyone! She does look much more comfortable in it than I thought she would and absolutely LOVES her newfound independence! She beats the crap out of the table, screaching with joy, and only leans a tiny bit to one side.
