Baby pinching/grabbing her tummy

My 8 month old daughter has started grabbing and pinching her tummy when she is in the bath or naked. Its only just started happening this last few weeks but she will leave marks on herself. She is grabbing everything - my boob and nipple when feeeding, noses, hair etc. She will sometimes bang her tummy too when playing with her toys that have a rattle she tends to bang them against her tummy, it looks quite hard and we say 'No' when she does this. Sometimes I think she is just discoverinhg her body, realising its her tummy, or maybe she has tummy ache? Does anyone have any advice, I am just removing her hand when she grabs and saying 'No pinching'.

My DD (9 months) has also been doing the same for a few weeks. I assume she's doing it because she can whereas before she wasn't able to. As long as she's pinching herself she can keep at it as far as I am concerned, but I do try to say 'gently' when she grabs the dogs and stop her before she pinches me!

My 7 1/2 month old has been doing this for some time ready. She does seem to be doing it less lately. I've read that it's perfectly normal and just a stage in their development. I try to discourage it but found the best thing to do is distract her.

Yup, DD 8.5 months does a lot if this, grabbing and pulling at belly and chest. She can end up quite red from it, but I think it's all just sensory discovery. She also drums her heels really hard on the floor / changing mat when I'm doing her nappy which I always think must hurt, but she keeps on doing it!

my dd is 7mo and exactly the same! i find it quite funny, she grabs her thighs belly, feet everything! she seems amazed that they're hers, haha! i think its a discovery/developmentle thing so just let her be. if shes not hurting herself then dont worry.

My DD 9 months doing it too? Its self discovery, she'll stop soon and move on to biting, pulling hair, or some other wonderful thing. Its a sensory thing -
