Please tell me this is a phase.

Even if i say for example "do you want sweets" DD says "NO, i dont want it". I say ok, and carry on and she then screams that she does want it.

Its driving me mad.

I don't have this problem but a friend of mine has a son 2.3 who only says no. No to everything. Its driving her mad too. You're not alone, but I wouldn't know how to remedy it.

Cadbury · 26/01/2006 11:36

yup, got it here too. infuriating isn't it.

absolutely infuriating!

I have thrown 3 breakfasts away, 4 dinners, a couple of yoghurts. It has the desired effect at the time but half an hour later it starts again...... grrrrrrrrrrrr

It really is like a compulsion - kind of like babies sticking EVERYTHING in their mouths!

Hi vicki. Bit blue at the mo but surviving. The kids are being quite pleasant so I shouldn't complain . How are you?

uwila · 26/01/2006 16:55

My DD will be 3 in March and she is currently posessed by a schizophrenic demon. She even scolds herself. When she get snaps at me, and I turn and say sternly "You may not speak to me likt that" She turns her back, yesl "No! Never! Don't want it. Got to bed! RIGHT NOW!" Then when I ask her what is wrong, she says in a wimpering little mousey voice "I want a hug?"

uwila · 26/01/2006 16:57

Last weekend she cried on the train all the way from Waterloo to Wimbledon and would tell DH or me what was wrong. Wow, were we unpopular. One woman left the train in disgust. We were sooooooo pissed off. All of us.

uwila · 26/01/2006 16:58

Sorry. Terrible typing. She wouldN'T tell us why she was crying.

going4potty · 26/01/2006 17:27

Ven, is a phase, a Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery annoying one. Someone mentioned not giving them the item they had previously said no to??? Thats what i do too, tantrums to start with then finally got it into his skull

LadySherlockofLGJ · 26/01/2006 17:34

VVVQV

It lasts until they are about, ooooooooh let me see, 18 lmao

Filyjonk · 26/01/2006 17:52

Ds tells me off. Eg "No! Mummy! Don't shout0 at Filyboy!". He also takes me to my room for a time out.

Sometimes, if we are in public and ds has been told off he says "want nice mummy back. Where nice mummy?" (I don't know where that one comes from!)

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/01/2006 18:24

Uwila - my dd is doing that too! Telling off - well i dont know who - crying and getting angry then wants a cuddle.

Im not too bad at the moment Cadders - despite my DD's efforts! Getting there anyway. Sorry you are having a bad time of it at the mo! I miss mine terribly still . Cat me if you want to chat

welcome to my world. dd1's fav word is no. she's 2.6.

helsi · 26/01/2006 18:29

DD is 3.1 and for the last couple of weeks the defiance and "no" has been terrible. I'm glad that it seems that it is just a phase.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/01/2006 18:29

PMSL Hausfrau!

(and i know your post is just comeback for the wine-hiding comment LGJ )

Its driving me nuts. Its almost as irritating as "What you doin? ......But, What you doin?"
