Hello!

My DS is two and 10 months, he's basically stopped listening at all and tries to do the exact opposite of everything I ask of him, and when asked to do things has taken to screaming. The fighting has got better recently (phew) as he was hitting the other children unprovoked (and me- pulling my glasses off my face, punching me, pulling my hair, kicking me). I shower him with attention generally speaking but he goes on the naughty step when he does something wrong and goes into time out. Recently he has been opting for doing the time on the naughty step rather then doing what he has told so it doesn't feel much like a solution!

Anyone got some ideas about how to encourage that he does what he is asked without such a battle? Also he's very difficult to take for walks because he wanders off!!!

thanks!!!

I have 2 1/2 year old twin boys. They are mostly pretty good, but they have their moments.

we use the naughty chair (high chair) rather than naughty step. Clip the strap then they can't escape and you don't have to keep going back to the,. Just for 2 mins and then they say sorry and out.

They are much easier to handle when they are out of the house and getting lots of fresh air and exercise.

Take him to places where it is OK for him to wander off - supervised iyswim (woods, beach etc) if you can.

Get a routine going - for your own sanity as well as to help manage his behaviour.

Is he eating and sleeping OK? Mine can be awful when hungry or tired.
