Where can I go for guidance & support?

Does anyone know of any support groups etc for behaviour / discipline? Seems to me you can join a group for help with pretty much everything else (feeding, playing, special needs) but you're kind of on your own when it comes to actual parenting! I checked our local Surestart and they don't do anything. Does anyone know of any such groups? I'm in Kent, but desperate so prepared to travel within reason!

Hi have you asked sure start as the ones by me in Birmingham do run a couple of courses on behaviour but I think you have to ask as i had to but my ds was to young? Go figure! Thought the younger the child's better parenting style would be beneficial one is called early years I think. There souls be more parenting classes available and maybe that would help cure a few problems. Best of luck.

Sure Start in Warwickshire run Triple P course, I thought it was a national thing? Could you suggest to your local centre and get them to organise one if there is interest from other parents?

Definitely nothing at our centre, but now I have a name I'll see if it's something I can push for! Thanks ladies...

Our local Sure Start do the Incredible Years course which has sections on discipline. A lot of parents are attending it because they need help with discipline issues. There is also an Incredible Years book which you can buy on Amazon. I am reading it at the moment and finding it interesting and helpful but I am looking for different things (play and communication).
