Hi all

My LO has his first set of jabs tomorrow and I was wondering how others have got on with theirs. How did your LO cope on the day and after?

Thanks for your stories.

Sally

Hi, my lo was fine on the day (apart from screaming at me when they did the injection :( ) but as the following day progressed she got fractious and barely slept that night. Day after better. I am with u as my twins had their 8 wk jabs today Sad roll on Sunday!!

DS got jabbed in each thigh and wailed loudly after each one. 3 minutes later he'd forgotten about it! He did sleep a lot for the next few days though... I think they all respond a bit differently.

BTW the nurse who gave the jabs mentioned that the needle might look a bit big, but that the big needle actually hurts less than a smaller one; she would have to press harder to get the stuff into baby if a smaller needle was used. I mention this in case you faint at the sight of the needle (it's not too big really but your protective mummy eyes might think it's terrifying!!)... :)

If you're BF, latch dd on for the jabs.

My ds2 didn't start his jabs until 6months and had his most recent one 2 days ago at Nearly 18months. He was BF for all of them and didn't even flinch while it was being done.

Keep some calpol handy just in case.

DS hardly noticed the injections, but was grumpy and unsettled for a day or two afterwards. DD cried horribly, but then slept for the rest of the day. I'm hoping that if I have a third they'll be like DD!

Hope you and your LO get through them with a minimum of fuss.

Much better than I had expected.

MooncupandPizza · 16/02/2012 20:49

Jabs have not affected either of my 2 at all bar crying when they actually happened, and that wasn't for long.

Hope your little one is like mine were!

I also have heard other mums whose babies actually were a bit dozy and slept more than usual which made me a bit jealous! Mine were just their normal selves after all jabs.

Rollersara · 04/04/2012 20:01

Mine had hers earlier today and has been asleep for the last 4 hours, not like her! Otherwise fine though.

  • hi RollerSara - you had a girl! I was on the Feb baby bus too - I had a boy, though he's 6 weeks, so a bit after you. I hope it all went well for you.
Rollersara · 05/04/2012 09:49

Hi Phlossie, yes, all went well, although she's still grouchy after the jabs! Hope you'e all well!
