My ds is 2.5 i read to him for 15-30 mins before his lunchtime nap interactive pointing out naming etc

My DH reads a bedtime story for 20-30 mins no pics or interaction, DS lies in his cot and DH sits beside the cot

That sounds like plenty to me. DS (4) has a story at bed time every night, probably about 10 minutes. He occasionally asks for a story during the day, so we read to him then, but that's about it.

I read for about half an hour during the day for dd1 2.5 and about 10 mins at bedtime

OP the time you spend seems the same as what we spend with DS1 2.10yo

DS2, 5mo is only interested in eating his books, so nothing much for him yet
