7 year old's temper tantrums

Does anyone have any advice or can recommend any useful literature about how to deal with my 7 year old's temper tantrums. She will sometimes have one when she doesn't get her own way and she knows that it is unreasonable but she can not curb her emotion. She only has them at home and not at school. I put her in her room to calm down but the other day we were on the drive and I had nowhere to put her, I didn't know what to do.

It breaks my heart Sad and it clouds the very special times we have together (I am in a co parenting situation) I just want to make the most of every minute we spend together.

it may be nothing more than tantrums, but if my experience with my own DD is anything to go by, I'd recommend looking behind at what might be going on to make her so volatile - with my own DD - twice - once at 7 & again recently at 9, its turned out to be bullying at school - good luck
