Hi, my DS is 3 and has started takiing about monsters at bed time. He says the monsters are going to get him. He insists that his bedroom door is shut every night unless daddy or mummy stay with him till he falls asleep. We have started leaving a night light on his room and we tell him that monsters aren't real and that if there were any then they would be friendly. We also put his large cuddly elephant on top of his drawers to look after him at night time. he doesn't watch a lot of television and what his does watch we screen first, all I can think of that is that his friends talk about monsters! Do all little boys go through a stage thinking monsters are going to get them? Does anyone have any experience of this. We really don't want our DS to be scared at night time, it is worrying. Thank you :)

Make him either a Monster Be Gone Shaker or Spray Bottle.

Shaker is easier, IMHO, and less messy:

Take a can with a lid, such as Pringles (bonus, you get to eat the Pringles!). Fill it with dried beans or peas. Glue the lid on. Wrap in plain paper and let him decorate it.

Whenever he thinks there's a monster he can shake it and the monsters will be scared away.

Or you can fill a spray bottle with water and he can spray the monsters away. But that way leads to dampness!

And, yes, I think all kids go through this at some point!

Will definately try the shaker idea tonight and see what happens. Thank you Tee2071 :)
