Hi, hoping for some advice and suggestions. Yesterday, we were at a friends house with several other children. DS1 (just 3yo) came to me crying as another boy had taken a toy off him. He also cried when he tried to sit with two older girls (one he really loves) and he ended up not sitting next to her (don't really know what happened - pushed off chair?).

Don't want him being physical with other children or grabbing toys back but am scared I'm encouraging him to be a passive doormat. Previously, as he was younger, myself and other mums were a bit more pro-active but as he's getting older, the kids are left to themselves a bit more.

Just hoping someone's got some good advice or strategies. Thanks xxx

My ds same age. He had similar - we went to a playgroup and one point he came to me crying that someone took something off him. i said - dont worry, plenty toys around to play with! after that, i was watchim him for a bit on a distance to make sure it all went ok. Now he just dont make a fuss any more - he can always find something else.

I used this and i was happy - didn't get physical (also few weeks later someone tried take something off ds and he just pushed away bully - and bully went away!) and he didn't cry. Im sure people can offer something different/better but this worked for me!
