Hi I have a -just-4 year old ds. 6 months ago he had his speech assessed as you can only understand every word he says about 50% of the time. The speech guy said this was likely in part due to his prematurity he was born at 27weeks and that he just talks to fast. He would grow outbofnitnjn his own time and when they assessed his sounds everything was perfect. Nothing much has changed since he talks all the time but always at 100 miles a hour. In every way he is very advanced-wouldn't care if he wasn't but he was assessed and I was told this, knows his letters numbers etc can write/read basically etc etc so just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to how Incan get him to speak slower, he's always happy and excited I have tried asking jkm to repeat etc. should j get him re assessed?

Hey , my DS is 5 years old and he has been attending speech therapy on and off for the past year. He is very smart for his age and has no other issues apart from making some sounds ie... F sound for the word frog or fish eg.
I find he talks very fast and I would tell him to stop, slow down and start again and it normally helps.
I think if you are concerned at all you should get him reassessed.
