Hiccups and giggles!

Hi all,

DD is nearly one and literally every time she laughs she gets the hiccups within about 10 seconds. This has been happening all her life - since she started laughing I suppose. Obviously I'm not too concerned, and it is quite cute - if a bit annoying (they last ages), but just wondering if this is normal or do you think it's something I should get checked out? If she giggles at her bedtime story it's then harder to get her down with the hiccups. Any advice?

Dunno how common it is, but I do this too and have all my life! My son (18mo) takes after me too. It has never bothered me - though it did get me into an argument on a long car journey once when a fellow passenger didn't believe I wasn't faking it! Grin

She may grow out of it a bit as she gets older.

Sorry, no advice though, as I have never found anything that makes a difference - except breathing very calmly once I have them, to make them go, but try telling that to a 1 yo! Eating chillis does it to me too not just laughing. :)
