Talk to me about alpha male 4 year olds PLEASE!

DS seems to have a personality switch the second he steps into soft play/nursery/park anywhere where another alpha male type child is there. He gets so aggressive and he looks through me! Today has been hell! Is this normal?

Sorry if I am being dense but what do you mean by Alpha Male? Marking his territory? Being loud and boisterous? Agressive towards whom? Isn't 4 a bit too young to be categorising? I really don't mean that in a critical way-just surprised.

Is he not just overexcited and overwhelmed? I have a 4 year old DS who has these 'moments'-I just put it down to hormones/excitement/me not diffusing the situation before it degenerates.
