has a yoghurt drink (100ml) with his breakfast.
a glas of juice with his lunch/a carton of juice in his lunch box
and another glas of juice with his dinner

will not drink water/squash that is offered in school at snack times, never asks for drinks at home. if we have a hectic day and forget to offer him juice he will not drink anything...

he eats plenty of fruit, though and we tend to offer a juicy kind (i.e.not bananas) for extra fluid.

How does he get on with milk? DS still loves it at 4 years old, and would drink it all day if he could.

Have you tried Innocent smoothies? They are admittedly a bit pricey (most supermarkets do two packs of four for £5), but they're nothing but pure fruit and SO much tastier than juices/squashes etc.

Also, I always find that my DS wolfs down cucumber when he's thirsty as it's a very watery food.

Oh, also, with DS eating and drinking are an annoying necessary interruption to his otherwise busy day, and he too doesn't really ask for food or drink. However, we find that if we don't ask/offer, but just give it to him, he'll have it.

he doesn't like milk, except for yoghurty type drinks.
oh, and he eats a lot of yoghurt.

Frozen lollies ie orange juice or apple, jelly, melon, clear soup, milk shake, hot chocolate at bedtime?

MrsCornish · 29/01/2012 18:07

I was going to add banana millkshake - only thing my ds will drink, often.

MrsCornish · 29/01/2012 18:09

but actually he probably gets enough water in his food/drink, if he's not thirsty and his pee isn't orange.

My DD is just the same, has a few mouthfuls of drink at mealtimes but refuses any other time and rarely asks for drinks. Wees just 2 or 3 times a day and they are a bit dark, though not yellow. We were out for the day yesterday (10:30 am - 6:30 pm) and she didn't wee once and had just 1 drink.

Not sure what to do about it, she is 5.7 yrs and has never liked liquids much. She will choose water, milk, fruit juice or squash at meal times but simply doesn't want a whole glassful.

She eats loads and is not at all fussy with food.
