Is 8oz too much?

My ds has just started to sleep through the night at 3 months which is great but i want to make sure he has enough food. He is formula fed and feeds 4 times now that he has lost his 3am feed. If i give him 3 7oz and an 8oz before bed then he should be getting enough for his weight but the carton only says about giving him 7oz even when he 6 months. Can his tummy handle 8oz? Sorry for rambling - first time mum!

Just give him as much as he will drink, he should stop when he is full. the amounts on the box are just guidelines and bear no relation to the amounts any of my dcs have wanted.

My DS could get through the amounts they suggested on the box and on top of that have 3 breast feeds. I always just fed him as much as he wanted.

Echo the above. My DS at that age was a milk monster and could easily handle 8oz at a time. Just go slow (if he will let you) and check you have a teat which doesn't flow too fast - otherwise he could gulp and take in a fair bit of wind. Trying to get a burp out when his tummy is very full might lead to a full-on puke - speaking from experience!

Our DS too could handle 8 oz very easily. Indeed he got on to more than that quite quickly. If your DS has had enough milk he will stop feeding. If he has not had enough he will wake up more often and demand more.

Just enjoy the fact he sleeps through the night and give him what he wants. He sounds a happy contented chap.
