high chair safety

My 1 yo is pushing up on the high chair footrest and we don't currently use a harness so I'm a bit worried about safety. Not keen on taking the footrest off though in case it means his back arches strangely as he wouldn't be properly supported. What do others think?

we've never used a highchair with a footrest so I am sure he would be fine without it

If it is the stokke tripp trapp there is no point taking the foot rest off, we tried this for DS2 but the supporting bar is in the same place as the footrest and he just pushes up on that now.

I just discourage him and never leave him unsupervised in the highchair, while furiously bidding on stokke harnesses on Ebay in the hope of not having to pay a milllion pounds for oneGrin

If it's not the stokke then get a harness.
