Ds has started to poo in his pant's over the last few days.
I have tried explaining to him that its not a nice thing to do etc. but he still does it.
Tonight he did it, I told him off, put clean pants on and then he did it again 5mins later.
He's a very happy content little boy, I just can't think why he's doing it Confused
Anyone got any idea's?

Not sure why he is doing it. But I suggest that you give him incentive not to do it. Stay clean to day and you can have/do x. If he poos get him to undress himself and help you clean up. Try not to get cross just remind him to use the toilet next time. Have had lots of clients with boys regressing at this age youarenot alone! good luck!

Thanks.
We have a star chart on the go so going to add Do poo's in toilet and see what happens!

are you sure he's not constipated? Weirdly, if a child is very constipated they will 'leak' poo around the hard, compacted stuff. It's not their fault as it is involuntary. I'd check this first before doing any behavioural strategy.

I'm fairly sure he's not constipated. The poo is 'proper' poo iykwim . He goes pretty much every day without any trouble, just at the moment it seem's to be in his pants. Confused

My son has been doing this everyday since he was potty trained. No 1s are fine, even takes himself. No 2s are a different matter. I have tried c

Every constipation medicine and every reward chart to no avail. Anyone else suffered this and his do you come out of the other side?

Mine went through a phase of this. Chocolate in egg for each day with clean pants, and a new Octonauts GUP for a whole week was motivational enough Smile. Now I just need to find a way of making DS2 (2 1/2) poo in the toilet too and I will be a happy woman!

my son who is almost four has just started to do this - does he wee standing up?
his twin still sits to wee and has no such problem, i think (obviously) he's more likely to poo if he's sitting down but is too lazy to give it ago.
he doesn't do it indoors but has been caught whilst we've been out three times in the last two weeks and have taken to asking him to trying sitting for his last trip to the loo before we go anywhere but he's very cross about it...

toucancancan · 28/07/2013 21:21

DS does this too and he is now 6. We can go months with no poo in pants and then he will do it every other day for a week or so.

Is he starting reception in Sep? Have you been talking about it a lot? My DD1 starts reception in September. She has started having accidents and am pretty sure it is related. I keep going on about starting school and have now concluded I am stressing her out.
