Used to sleep 2 hrs in am and then another 30-40mins in pm bed 7-7 but cosleep and wakes multiple times at night tho easily soother back to sleep. Since xmas naps have gone all wrong now he sleeps maybe 30mins in am and maaaaybe 30mins pm but rarely and lately if he does this it is just before bed! He doesn't then carry on and sleep throughbut wakes and goes to bed marginally later.

He has been teething loads but isn't currently. Dh is sahd and just called at the end of his tether that he still hasn't had morning nap (up since 630).

Is it a phase? Should we try to do a routine? Have always gone with the flow on ds1 and now ds2 so not sure what to do...

Is he tired? My DD moved to one nap a day very early on, before 12 months. Before that it was a real struggle to get her down and she'd only do 30 mins in the morning and another 30 in the afternoon. And end up grumpy. Once we moved onto one nap a day, she started doing 2-3 hours easily. Result.

Normal normal normal at this age!

What sorted it for us was napping at the same time every day (some
Flexibility if DS woke early) and having a short morning nap of 45 mins at 8.30/9am and a longer lunch time nap from 11.30/12 ish). Napping on cue did not work!

He'd need a bit of downtime in the afternoon sometimes as well (around 3pm) - id take him for a walk.

No advice really but my 11 month old DD has been the same since Christmas, wondering if her routine was unsettled over the holidays. Going to try one long nap rather than two.

I am experiencing similar issues. Thankfully DS has finally started sleeping through the night again (he goes down around 7/7:30pm and usually wakes up anywhere between 5:30 - 6:30am). I am very thankful for this, however he has gone from napping 40-90 minutes twice a day two weeks ago, to only lasting about 20-30 minutes if I'm lucky. I've been trying to get him to have a 3rd nap in the afternoon now as otherwise he is just too tired, the longest he does is about 15 mins unless he is in the pushchair. As it's -20 outside and covered in snow, the pushchair is not a viable option until spring.

I've tried keeping him up longer in case he is not as tired as he seems to be in the morning. Does nothing. I've tried shortening the gap between wake up and first nap (as per Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child) to no avail. I am at my wits end as I have no time to do anything and am in the middle of trying to apply to grad school.

Any advice/suggestions would be very welcome!
ohdarcy has your child's napping improved? What have you tried?
